A First Look at Nedlands Square

There’s a new local in Nedlands.

After much anticipation, Nedlands Square has officially opened its doors on 30th September 2026, bringing a new mix of shopping, dining, fitness, wellness and everyday essentials to the heart of the suburb.

Located along Stirling Highway and spanning approximately 7,600 sqm of commercial floor space, the new precinct is anchored by Woolworths and brings together 22 specialty stores across retail, hospitality, health, recreation and professional services. It's an exciting addition to the evolving Nedlands Town Centre.

But the vision for Nedlands Square extends beyond convenience. Designed as a place for the community to shop, eat, exercise, catch up and spend time, the precinct introduces something Nedlands has long been waiting for: a central meeting place.

What's New at Nedlands Square?

Leading the fitness offering is a new flagship Revo Fitness, with an expansive 1,080 sqm gym featuring strength and cardio equipment, on-demand reformer pilates, functional training areas and plenty of room to move. Joining the precinct is Love Athletica, the popular East Coast Pilates brand making its first move into WA. With an established following across Melbourne, Adelaide and Canberra, its Nedlands studio will bring its signature athletic reformer, hot mat Pilates, functional strength and heated yoga classes to Perth.

There’s plenty to look forward to on the food front, too. Making its WA debut is Mokoko Bakery Café, bringing its much-loved UK bakery experience to Nedlands. Closer to home, Perth favourite Whisk Creamery is opening another location, alongside Guzman y Gomez and a growing selection of cafés and eateries.

Wellness is another big focus, with WA-born Alchemy Saunas set to join the precinct in 2027, bringing its popular sauna and cold-plunge experience to the neighbourhood.

And it's not just about food, fitness and wellness. You'll also find a GP, pharmacy, optician, nail salon, barbers and other everyday essentials, all in one place.

With free onsite parking and everything in one central location, there's plenty of reason to make Nedlands Square your new local.

An Inside Look with Blair Hallion

We caught up with Nedlands Square Development Manager Blair Hallion to hear more about the vision behind the project, what it takes to create a new community hub and what locals can look forward to as Nedlands Square continues to evolve.

What was the vision behind Nedlands Square?

“The whole idea was to create a central point for Nedlands. A place of convenience, somewhere to hang out, shop and get your daily tasks done, but also a community hub for everyone in the area.”

For Blair and the development team, creating that sense of community was just as important as bringing together the right mix of businesses.

“We wanted people to feel like this is their local. They can do their daily shop, grab the things they need, work out, hang out with friends and even use the co-working spaces here.”

And perhaps that's what makes Nedlands Square so appealing. It's not somewhere you need a special reason to visit, but a place that naturally becomes part of everyday life, whether you're running errands, catching up with friends or simply spending time in the neighbourhood.

What will locals love most?

“I think the food and beverage precinct is going to be a real drawcard. We spent a lot of time making sure it feels right and creating somewhere you can grab a quick bite, or bring the family. We have a play area for the kids and plenty of exciting restaurants and cafés.”

It's this focus on food, family and places to gather that makes Nedlands Square more than somewhere to simply pass through. Whether it's a quick coffee, lunch with friends or an easy family outing, there's plenty of reason to stay a little longer.

It's an approach that aligns with the City of Nedlands' broader vision for a modern and thriving town centre for locals to enjoy.

What’s still to come?

Nedlands Square may now be open, but there’s still more to come.

One of the most anticipated pieces of the precinct is the next chapter for the Captain Stirling Hotel. As Blair explains:

“We’ve gone through stage one of the redevelopment, restoring the heritage elements and bringing the building back to its full potential. We’ve got a new tenant moving in very soon. I can’t give away anything yet, but it’s going to be something really special.”

For a building so closely tied to the local area, its restoration brings together an important piece of Nedlands’ past with the evolving town centre around it.

A New Chapter for Nedlands

With more tenants still to be revealed and the precinct beginning to settle into daily life, Nedlands Square feels like more than a new addition to the suburb. It signals a new chapter for the heart of Nedlands, one centred around convenience, connection and community.

From a property perspective, it’s exactly this kind of amenity that makes an established suburb like Nedlands even more liveable. Bringing shopping, dining, fitness, wellness and everyday essentials together in one central location, Nedlands Square adds another layer of convenience to life in the area.
