A Christmas classic, gingerbread cookies are loved by all and are sure to be a hit! Quick and easy to make, DUET’s Gingerbread Cookie Recipe will keep the kids entertained and be a yummy festive treat.
100g salted butter
3 tbsp golden syrup
100g brown sugar
1/2 tsp bicarb soda
1 tbsp ground ginger
1 tsp cinnamon
225g plain flour
50g icing sugar
Step 1 Heat butter, syrup and sugar in small pan until melted. Set aside to cool slightly.
Step 2 Combine bicarb soda, ginger, cinnamon, and flour. Pour in the syrup mixture and stir to combine, use hands to bring together to form the dough.
Step 3 Roll the dough out to a thickness of 5mm and transfer to a baking sheet and chill in the fridge for 1 hour.
Step 4 Preheat the oven to 190°C. With your DUET Gingerbread Cookie Cutter, cut out as many as you can. Place on a tray with a baking sheet. Bake in the oven for 10 minutes or until golden brown.
Step 5 Prepare the icing mixture by combining icing sugar and 1-2 tablespoons of water to create a thick icing mixture. Use the icing to decorate the gingerbread cookie.
