If you’re in need of a serious dose of nature, switch your phone off and hop in the car and go for a walk in some of Perth’s best walking trails. Most of of these trails are only 30 minutes from the city, and are sure to give you a well-deserved reset.
Only 24 kilometres from the city, John Forrest National Park has one of the best walking trails. Enjoy a stroll through the jarrah, marri and paperback trees and maybe even explore the eerie and iconic Swan View Tunnel.

Stretching over 1000 kilometres from Kalamunda to Albany, the Bibbulmun Track is one of the world’s longest walking trails. While the whole track usually takes between 30 and 60 days, you can enjoy a day hike at Mount Cooke and explore the highest point in the Darling Range.

This reasonably easy 3.6km return walk in the Mundy Regional Park follows Whistlepipe Gully in the Perth Hills. The trail follows the narrow river as it courses over cascades and small waterfalls and offers views over the coastal plain to Perth. It’s a beautiful way to enjoy a spring day and it’s dog friendly too, making it the perfect way to exercise your four-legged friend.

Rocky Pool Walk is a 5km loop in the Kalamunda National Park visiting the picturesque Rocky Pool. Explore the spectacular view and wildlife in Jarrah and Marri Forests of Kalamunda National Park. There are some steep hills but it’s worth the effort to get to the Rocky Pool which contains water from winter through to spring - its the perfect spot for a picnic!

This popular 4.5km loop is actually a combination of the easy Bells Rapids River Walk and the more difficult Goat Walk. The trail follows the river, before climbing the hill with some steep rocky sections to navigate. Being dog friendly, you’ll find it’s a popular spot on the weekends!
